Tears of the Phoenix
Why are you no longer here? How can it be that you are no longer at my side? Will I ever see you again? I can't begin to tell you how often I have looked for you in the faces of every passing crowd. I catch fleeting glimpses, but when I chase them down, it's not you. How could so many other people be wearing your smile? I have searched so long, but the only face I find is the empty stranger looking back at me from every mirror. So much time has passed. There are so many things that should have been shared with you. In all of these years, I have never given up. I wake up every morning and dust off the ashes of another day gone by. It is such a lonely task. Every day I struggle to rise above the ashes and smouldering embers, to soar freely through the wind because I know you would wish it for me. But the flight of the phoenix is a lonely one. It is a journey that none of us choose, nor will we ever understand. We can only bear witness to the fires we leave behind and the tears trailing before us.
I will never stop loving you.
I miss you very much.
